“Ang Thong” is a lowland
located in the Central region of Thailand with geographic coordinate
latitude of 14 degree, 35 arcminutes and 12 Northern arcseconds. Its
longitude is 100 degree and 27 arcminutes. It is far from Bangkok
along national highway No. 32 (Bang Pa-in – Pa Yu Ha Keree) with
around 105 kilometers in distance. Its shipping route along Chao
Phraya River to Tha Tien market is 120 kilometers in distance. The
province’s characteristics are similar to a square with its width
along the East to the West and its length along the North to the
South adjacently which is 40 kilometers. Ang Thong Province’s total
area is 968.372 Square Kilometers or around 605,232.5 Rai. The
borders of the province are listed as follows:
North - Adjacent
to Khai Bang Rachan District, Phrom Buri District and Tha Chang District
in Sing Buri Province.
South - Adjacent
to Phak Hai District and Bang Ban District in Phra Nakhon Si
Ayutthaya.
East - Adjacent
to Bang Pahan District, Maharaj District and Ban Phraek District in Phra
Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
West - Adjacent
to Mueang Suphanburi District, Si Prachan District, Sam Chuk District
and Doem Bang Nang Buat District in Suphanburi Province.
Topography :
The general topography of “Ang Thong” Province is lowlands without any
mountain looking like a tub. Its land is clay mixed with sand. Most
areas are suitable for rice planting, farming and gardening. There are 2
rivers flowing through the province – Chao Phraya River and Noi River.
Chao Phraya River is a river with several affluents flowing through
Nakhon Sawan, Chai Nat, Sing Buri and Ang Thong. It flows through Chaiyo
District, Mueang Ang Thong District and Pa Mok District. Totally, the
river flows through Ang Thong Province for around 40 kilometers in
distance.
Climate :
The climate condition can be classified in tropical and damp zone. There
is tropical rain in specific season influenced by Northeast monsoon
during November to February causing the weather to be cold and dry in
this period. It is also influenced by Southwest monsoon during May to
September causing the weather to be cloudy and rainy in this period.
